I Have A Private Number Plate That I Want To Keep ?
If you have a private number plate & you wish to keep that number first of all you will need to contact the Dvla
The Dvla will then send you the V778 Document Don't scrap or sell your car until you have made the transfer as you will lose your private number

Once you have completed our on line form one of our collection agents will telephone if collection is agreed by you a convenient date and time will be arranged for us to collect your scrap vehicle it could even be same day collection
Do I Need Road Tax To Scrap My Car?
No you do not need road tax to scrap your vehicle but if the vehicle is on the public highway and not on private property like a private driveway you will need to be displaying a valid tax disk if you remove the tax disk before we arrive you may be fined by the Dvla always wait until we arrive just to be on the safe side
I Have Unused Road Tax On My Vehicle Can I Claim My Car Tax Back?
You can get a refund for each full month still to run on the disc.
To get a refund for unused month's, the tax disc must be posted or delivered to DVA before the first day of the month.
To Claim A Refund you should use form V14(NI) available at Post Office ® Branches, Local Offices and on-line.
Your refund will be sent to you in the form of an account payee only cheque.
